Light a candle for me

and say a prayer to those who'll hear it

It won't be the Christian God

could be angel, fairy, even demon or spirit

I have no Bible to read

I have no church on Sunday to attend

I keep my religion to myself

because there are those it might offend

They wince at email forwards

filled with some sort of Pagan faith

But send me their God daily

and if I deny it, show me their hate

I live my religion daily

and I bear a cross not carried by Jesus

They live theirs on Sunday

the rest of the week bears their excuses

You ask the name of my god

yours has a thousand and then one

Mine doesn't require it

and so you think that he must have none

While you pray away your sins

I do my best to accept consequence

There is no forgiveness for me

simply because 'I believe in you' I profess

The most that I hope

is that at the end of any given day

Don't take faith from me

It doesn't bother me a bit if it isn't your way

I don't force you to my circles

so you can stop inviting me to your church

If my inbox isn't filled with Jesus

I really doubt that his feelings will be hurt

Next time you feel filled with faith

don't tell me the Psalm you might have read

If you must do anything at all

you can light a candle for me instead

Or evil. One of the two. I've been officially banned from the Watchtower's mailer list. I'm heartbroke.
