I would almost rather get harassed by these Keystone cops than finish painting.

It appears Justice has been, um, served:

Man found guilty of threatening officer

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PITTSBURG — A man was found guilty on Wednesday of threatening a police officer with a sledgehammer.
After a jury trial, Scott Varvel was convicted of assault on a law enforcement officer and felony criminal damage for an incident on Aug. 28, 2007.
On that day, Pittsburg Police responded to 507 W. Sixth Street because of reports of a man breaking windows out of a home. Varvel then threatened the first officer on the scene, Sgt. David Roughton, with a sledgehammer.
Varvel’s sentencing range will be from 5 to 17 months in the Kansas Department of Corrections.
Sentencing is set for Dec. 22

It was bullshit. The cop changed his story THREE times on the stand. Scott was charged with a misdemeanor instead of the felony criminal assault they wanted to charge him with.

RE: In a predicament...

I would tell the truth, and then I would go ask the girlfriend if she is crazy. The guy is obviously an asshat, he breaks out windows of her house, and yet she is still his girlfriend?

The guy is a P.O.S for what he did and needs to be punished, but if the cops are lying the truth needs to come out.

RE: In a predicament...

No doubt he needs to be punished. I never had a problem with that. My problem was with the fact the PD wanted to charge him with criminal assault on an LEO. He (the cop) was found lying/changing his story three times on the stand by the defense attorney. Prosecution rested (who I was TOLD to be a witness for) and the defense called me as THEIR witness. So after my testimony, the guy got misdemeanor assault and is looking at 5 - 17 months instead of felony criminal assault at 4 years.

RE: In a predicament...

I also don't understand why the cop felt the need to leave me a voice mail and 5 minutes later, beat on my door to "see what your story is". He did this 3 weeks ago and said he hadn't had a chance to talk with me...to which I said, "Fourteen months later? This is Pittsburg, you're not THAT busy." He then asked for my DL and I asked why. He said he needed to write down the information. I said, "Since you know where I live and my phone number, don't you have that already?"
